About J.F. Penn

I'm Jo Frances (J.F.) Penn, Award-winning, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of thrillers, dark fantasy, crime, horror, and travel memoir.

My stories blend strong characters with adventure at the edge of the supernatural.

I live in Bath, England and when I'm not traveling for book research, I enjoy walking by the canal, and a nice gin and tonic. I'm married and we have two British short-hair cats, Cashew and Noisette, who often feature on my Instagram @jfpennauthor !

I share my travels and interview other authors about the places that inspire them on my Books And Travel Podcast. I also have lots of resources based on my award-winning memoir Pilgrimage: Lessons Learned from Solo Walking Three Ancient Ways.

I love reading, and my favorite authors include John Connolly, Jonathan Maberry, and Stephen King. Here’s a list of books I love. I also read a lot of non-fiction, mostly travel, entrepreneurship, psychology, and religion.

You can see lots of pictures from my travels and book research on Instagram including my travels, adventures and writing inspiration.

I also share updates on what I'm working on now, as well as on social media.
